How are Fuel Injectors Cleaned?

There are two types of systems that inject fuel into your combustion chamber—the carburetor and the fuel injector. The vast majority of vehicles on the road today use a fuel injector system that squirts fuel vapor into the combustion chamber to mix with air and subjected to spark to create the power you need to travel down the road. A fuel injector sits above each cylinder with its nozzle inside the combustion chamber.

The manual cleaning of a fuel injection system is required when fuel injectors are completely clogged. To manually clean a fuel injection system requires its removal from the cylinder. To avoid this expensive process, have your mechanic periodically run a liquid fuel system cleaner through the entire fuel system. Such cleaners dissolve away sediments and contaminate buildups that inhibit fuel flow.
