Since 2005 Honda has offered a different type of pickup truck to drivers out there who wanted something more unique than the boxy offerings from other American automakers. It was announced earlier this year that production of the current Honda Ridgeline would end in 2014 and with when there was no announcement about a replacement, Honda fans everywhere were unsure of this models fate. Today we have found out that a new Ridgeline will be introduced sometime in the next two years.
In a press release that just came out today, Honda officials have announced that another version of this award-winning pickup will come to market sometime by the end of 2015.
The Ridgeline has been a groundbreaking model for a number of reasons. It's unique design strayed away from traditional truck setups, and the Ridgeline was also the first to be built on a closed-box unibody platform. This pickup also offered seating for five passengers as well as a dual-action tailgate.
Senior Vice President of automobile operations at American Honda, Mike Accavitti, commented, "The next generation Ridgeline will build on Honda's role in creating new value with a new take on advancing form and function in the truck segment. With a clear path forward, Ridgeline will play an even more important role in our future product portfolio and strengthen an already class-leading lineup of light trucks."1
