When you're a global brand such as Honda, there's always a lot of new marketing options to consider. Whether it's focusing on the demographics of different states in the U.S., or expanding their model line availability in Europe and Asia, it's clear the automaker is carving out its foothold. Sometimes they expand into areas folks in America wouldn't expect--such as Nigeria.

As far as African markets go, Nigeria makes a lot of sense for the automaker. It's the largest vehicle market in Western Africa, and with its populous and steadily growing economy, it's sure to be a great investment for Honda. The automaker seems to think so, too, as it's investing $11.5 million in the region to set up subsidiaries. They will begin importing their autos there shortly.

This isn't the first time that Honda has penetrated the African market. They started selling their cars in South Africa in 2000.

Honda will be offering a variety of its models in the emerging Nigerian market, including its City Car, a prominent fixture in Thailand. There were also be several models U.S. drivers will be acquainted with, such as the CR-V, Accord, and Civic.
